Semiphemeral is now Cyd
If an old guide sent you to Semiphemeral, you'll land on Cyd. Here's what it does now, what it costs, and when a different tool fits better.
What changed
Semiphemeral was a self-hosted tool for auto-deleting old tweets. Its successor, Cyd, is a desktop app that backs up and deletes your data on X and Bluesky. The old domain now points to cyd.social.
What Cyd costs
| Plan | What you get on X | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Free | Backup, delete all tweets, likes, bookmarks and DMs, unfollow everyone | $0 |
| Premium | Delete tweets except the ones you choose to keep | $3/mo or $36/yr |
Cyd is a good fit if…
- You want a local backup of your X data before you delete it.
- You're happy to wipe everything, or to pick by hand what to keep.
- You're moving to Bluesky; Cyd can migrate tweets there.
When A Clean Slate fits better
- You don't want to wipe your history. We flag only the posts a recruiter or client might question, and say why.
- You don't want to install anything. Paste your handle in the browser; no X login.
- You want a one-off check before a job search, paid once, not yearly.
Using both
Scan with A Clean Slate to see what's risky. If you then decide to clear everything, Cyd's free plan can do it.
See, free, how many of your recent posts look risky before you pay for anything.

Is Semiphemeral still available?
Its successor is Cyd. Older Semiphemeral setups are not what the team now offers.
Can A Clean Slate scan my full history?
Yes. The archive upload is part of the paid full report: upload your X archive there; it's read in your browser.
